Teaching
“Compassion is essentially the recognition that everyone and everything is a reflecton of everyone and everything else. An ancient text called the Avatamasaka Sutra describes the universe as an infinite net brought into existence through the will of the Hindu god Indra. At every connection in this infinite net hangs a magnificently polished and infinitely faceted jewel, which reflects in each of its facets all the facets of every other jewel in the net. Since the net itself, the number of jewels and the facets of every jewel are infinite, the number of reflections is infinite as well. When any jewel in this infinite net is altered in any way, all of the other jewels in the net change too.
The story of Indra’s net is a poetic explanation for the sometimes mysterious connections that we observe between seemingly unrelated events.”

Health Tip
HEALING WITH CRYSTALS.
Red varieties of Garnet will help on the physical level by stimulating circulation and encouraging the ‘fire’ energy to ignite within us, which then helps give us the fortitude to continue through the colder winter months; good for the blood, kidneys and liver. On an emotional level, it brings warmth, depth and passion and so can be useful to bring love in to one’s life. Mentally it supports striving for what we desire as well as helping us to recognise the good qualities of who we are. Spiritually it is restorative and brings order, as well as connecting us fully with life. If you are drawn to the green varieties then these are renewing and equally good for the physical attributes listed above. They also encourage change, by stimulating new thought processes, moving us from the ‘old’ into the new.
Ideally starting now in the winter months with the red and as spring approaches moving on to the green is beneficial. Because crystals have their own consciousness then they will activate and work with you when the vibrational frequency matches. The rule of thumb I use is, if I’m drawn to carry some, it is working with me, when I’m not, I no longer need it. If you find you carry it for a long time, then help allow it to recharge on a crystal bed or in the moonlight overnight, this will restore it to it’s full capacity. Rinsing it lightly under a running tap or cleansing it with a loving Reiki breath will cleanse it.

The Academy meets every Monday night (except public holidays) at St John’s Uniting Church Hall, cnr of Yeo Street and Barry Street, Neutral Bay. Enter off Barry Street. Session starts 7:30pm. Entry Fee: $15, concession available.
