Oprah talks with Thich Nhat Hahn author of Living Buddha, Living Christ and 100 other books.
So many pearls in this talk. Each segment has one that you can take to your heart. He says ‘everyone has good seeds and bad seeds, happiness grows out of suffering just as a lotus grows out of mud, it cannot grow out of marble.’. I love his mantras which he shares with us in particular the one which says, “Darling, I am here for you“. Being totally present, not preoccupied with thoughts and doing just making a present of your Presence to your ‘Darling’ whomever he or she may be.
A very important reminder from him is “the more people you sit with (to meditate) the better. The collective energy is very helpful.”
My own feeling is that meditation alone is not enough to combat the negativity in today’s world. We need a boost each week to our energy and I would like to see the Academy become a community and have a collective meditation each week……..Rosemary

Caroline is probably best known for her book Anatomy of Spirit, but she is also a fabulous teacher and I’m sure you will recognise yourself in her examples as she asks the question : Have you enough power to enter the part of ourselves that we really don’t want to know about?

A SITTING MEDITATION BY JON KABAT-ZINN

This is my daily meditation. Don’t let the simplicity of it beguile you into believing it is not powerful. I was first initiated into meditation in 1971 and have done copious types and watched dozens of youtubes and used different mantras and found Jon’s peaceful way of anchoring your awareness to the attention of your breathing just so helpful. It becomes a great habit, particularly when your mind is racing and you feel overwhelmed and are having difficulty getting to sleep.
You can listen to part of it or all. In the first segment he gets you to observe your breath going in and out, watching your tummy expand as your inhale and then fall back to your backbone as you exhale. He gives you some quiet time for you to observe and notice if your mind has taken you away. Next you get to expand your awareness by noticing your whole body, then gently expands your awareness to your listening and lastly your thoughts.

Tonight, you will be bathed with the extraordinary sounds of Didgeridoo (Marc Cottee), Crystal Bowls (Jewels Wakeman), Gongs, Tibetan Bowls, Bells and Chimes (John Butterworth) plus the voices of Joe Vandermeer, Ellie Francis and Jewels Wakeman. Julia Smith will be playing her Crystal Harp (We were lucky enough to experience Julia’s Crystal Harp Debut at The AOL on February 20).
By surrendering, with a quiet mind, to the sound of the giant gongs, bowls, didgeridoo and other musical instruments, the natural intelligence of our body can entrain back to a state of wellbeing. It is then up to you to maintain that state by modifying what you think and consume.
Everything in creation has its own natural rate of vibration which can be accelerated or decreased by other sources of vibration by the scientific law of sympathetic resonance or entrainment.
Bring a rug/blanket and pillow to lie down or sit as you allow your body to be immersed in these wonderful therapeutic and consciousness-expanding sound waves.
The cells of our bodies tune into these beautiful sounds and release toxins embedded thought patterns that no longer serve us and the result is that we feel rested relaxed, CLEANSED and REJEVENATED.
Just as a piano tuner is called in to tune up a Steinway to keep it playing in tune with creation so our bodies need to be ”tuned up” so that each organ of our body knows it is supported and loved, knows it’s place in the scheme of things and is in oneness with all creation.

In and Around the Academy with Ari Porter

Before our usual opening meditation, Rosemary briefed us on the importance of a group meditation and become part of the ‘collective’.
While our daily meditation is important, the group meditation is more powerful due to the combined effect and puts more “juice in the tank” to help keep our vibration high and aid us to best respond to our circumstances for the rest of the week. We were also encouraged to develop a sense of community and connectedness with those around us on Monday night, as this strengthens support for each other both in the natural and the spiritual. So please take the time to talk to the people next to you.
The Akashic Records are a vibrational record of every soul and even material objects and can also extend into the future based on the choices we will make. Accessing these records helps us understand why some things are occurring in our life and with this understanding how to best respond.
Michelle shared with us her own experiences with accessing the records to reveal some amazing insights. When she was 19 and living in Boston her boyfriend Patrick died and it was a great loss to her. So years later when she had a son she named him Patrick, and was blessed with a wonderful relationship with him. Recently she was shown in the Records that her boyfriend Patrick had incarnated as her son Patrick and in the exact moment was when she was pregnant she had woken up saying “I want a banana”, which had been Patricks favourite fruit and not something she would usually wake up craving ! Also Patrick recently told Michelle he wanted to travel to Boston, and he is now 19, the same age as the earlier life in Boston. Patrick had joined us for the night, a lovely young man and living proof of the story.
Traditionally only special people were able to access the Akashic records, but with the shift in Consciousness, we can now directly access our own Akashic records. Like most spiritual practices Intention and commitment are important keys, and there are some rules to follow :
* Do not access the records of a dead person. It was clarified that accessing the Akhasic records is different to Mediumship, where a departed soul makes contact. * Do not access the records of a minor or someone else without their permission. The quality of the information accessed / received is related to the Quality of the question being asked, noting the Intention and accepting Responsibility for the Response. I find this is the same important principle for the most helpful results when dowsing.
For example: Not so helpful – “ Show me What did / will happen with my Finances / Relationships etc ” More helpful – “ Show me How can I improve my Finances / Relationships etc ” Michelle then accessed the Records to answer some personal questions from the audience and on how The Academy can be of service in the Community. A Key is for the group to hold the Intention for the Academy to shine a light into the wider community and in future we will include this in our weekly candle offering. If we forget please speak up for the group.
