In and Around the Academy

Thank you to everyone that attended Michael Muir’s Light Language Transmission last fortnight. It was wonderful to see such a large turnout for our second event for the year. Many thanks also to Michael for bringing through such strong transformative energies. Much gratitude. I could certainly feel the shift for days.

Also many thanks and welcome to our two new lovely committee members; Alison Challis and Rochelle Self. Both did wonderfully on their first night and are a fantastic addition to the Academy of Light family.  Below is a brief introduction for both of them.

Rochelle Self – Secretary

My name is Rochelle and I am really excited to be part of the AOL commitee.  I love the role that AOL plays in the spiritual community. I am studying psychotherapy and have experience in an array of wonderful healing modalities such as Theta Healing, Reiki, meditation, crystal bowls and sound.  I just love energy work really!  I can’t wait to meet everyone over the coming year at an AOL event soon!

Alison Challis – Public Officer

I have an extensive history working as a Registered Nurse. I spent over 40 years working in Cardiology, Emergency, Refugee Health and more recently clients with complex mental health issues. Therefore I have had the absolute privilege of encountering human beings at their most vulnerable.
I spent 13 years living in an Indian Ashram around India and Australia. I raised my 4 sons within in this collective.
Most recently my passion is researching the new science of slow ageing and longevity combined with meditation and spirituality. 
I feel grateful and privileged to be a part of the Academy of Light team and look forward to exciting new times.

ASTROLOGY: Creating the Angel Self with Jane Ahlquist

Jane Ahlquist is a spiritual teacher who has manifested wisdom teachings in various guises. As well as practising astrology for 40 years, Jane has adapted classical spiritual stories and fairy tales for the stage and painted a body of work entitiled “Psychic Landscapes, Angels and Waratahs”.

Jane is the author of “ASTROLOGY history and purpose”, which will be available on the night. This is Jane’s first talk at the Academy and she looks forward to meeting the community.

Astrology is commonly considered a predictive art and an art through which one may deepen one’s self-knowledge. In this presentation, Jane Ahlquist will speak about the other level of astrology, through which we can develop our psychic bodies. This transformational development is assisted by the movements of the planets, particularly the outer three (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto), which develop the higher mind, heart and will respectively. The result of these cycles, if we are aware of them and use their beautiful energies, is spiritual health, freedom from judgement and the capacity to receive anything that life brings as a blessing. In conclusion, the talk will introduce a practical exercise which aims to illuminate our relationships.

Everything You Wanted to Know Findhorn

The Findhorn community in Scotland is one of the world’s oldest communities, beginning inauspiciously in 1961 when three adults and three children moved to a bleak caravan park in North East Scotland.  Through their dedication to their meditation practice, listening to their inner guidance, working with the nature realms and putting love into everything they did, what grew around them is one of the world’s oldest and most famous spiritual communities.

Jacqueline Buckingham has lived and worked there for seven years, as a fundraiser, a media producer and as one of the education faculty.  She will talk about her experiences of community living, how it began, why it continues to thrive and what it is REALLY like to live and work there.  The evening will be primarily structured around a Q&A, so if you have been curious about Findhorn and want to know more, this is a chance to get your questions answered.
