Thinking outside the square this amazing technology has been invented to allow an efficient and safe effort to save us from the ill-effects of plastic waste.

Akinori Ito has developed a machine which converts plastic back into oil.

The machine produced in various sizes, for both industrial and home uses, can easily transform a kilogram of plastic waste into a liter of oil, using about 1 kW·h of electricity but without emitting CO2 in the process. The machine uses a temperature controlling electric heater instead of flames, processing anything from polyethylene or polystyrene to polypropylene (numbers 2-4). Comment: 1 kg of plastic produces one liter of oil, which costs $1.50. This process uses only about 1 kW·h of electricity, which costs less than 20 cents!

We are heavily dependent on one another, and also as a result of mass communication, the barriers of the past are greatly reduced.  Today, because of the complexity of interdependence, every crisis on this planet is essentially related with every other, like a chain reaction.  Consequently, it is worthwhile taking every crisis as a global one.  Here barriers such as ‘this nation’ or ‘that nation’, ‘this continent’ or ‘that continent’ are simply obstacles.  Therefore today, for the future of the human race, it is more important than ever before that we develop a genuine sense of brotherhood and sisterhood.  I usually call this a sense of ‘universal responsibility.

In and Around the Academy

A funny thing.  Now we know how to get more men to a meeting.  Just have lots of gongs and two gong players.  I think the men almost outnumbered the ladies at Monday nights meeting and we had a full house.   We are very grateful to Matt Omo who not only brought his gongs but played his didjeridoo, crystal and Tibetan bowls and brought through some beautiful harmonics.   John played his gongs with his usually expertise.  We are all acknowledging the importance and the effect of sound.

The next sound night will be the 22nd July.  The focus will be on harmonic overtone chanting, singing and Jessica Cowley-Martin will be bringing her white crystal bowls.  Another magical night not to be missed so put it in your diary.

Be a Volunteer at the Embrace Life, Live Life Expo at Crows Nest!

Anyone would like to be part of the volunteer team on the 7th July then I would love to have a chat.

What they would need to do:
1. Wear a turquoise top and black pants on the day, and arrive at 8.30 am to 5.30 pm
2. Be part of our volunteer meeting on 2nd July, 6pm (if time permits) to connect with whole volunteer team, and assist us to pack the gift bags
3. Be happy, optimistic and willing to work as a team on the roles we have to cover

As part of the volunteer team, we do like to share 10% of the net profit after all expenses paid ( this is in the form of gift vouchers), this is nominal way to “thank” everyone and provide a balance between giving and receiving, most people do not come for the payment but to be part of something that is promoting an industry we love.

We also have an opportunity for them to get involved in a PR stunt we are organising, this will be held on 29th June and will be done in front of the Crows Nest Community Centre, lunchtime ( time to be confirmed), this will entail them handing out marketing flyers to the lunch time crowd about the following week’s expo, and should be a lot of fun – we have drummers, fire dancers, musicians and an oriental fan dancer, it will be filmed for our online marketing and will give a sense of arrival of ELLL to the Crows Nest community.
